Identifying with the word ‘gamer’ all his life, Karna decided to convert his passion into a career and joined the India Games industry 15 years ago.

Currently heading Zapak’s India focussed IP games business, Karna has played an active part across the game development life cycle, bringing Little Singham, Little Krishna, and other Little titles (currently in development) to millions of Indian Gamers.

Prior to joining Zapak, Karna worked in Gameshastra (bringing industry defining Bollywood games such as Don 2, Krrish 3 and Kochadaiyaan to the Indian consumer), Zealcity (A Cricket Mobile Games Endeavour backed by Krishnamachari Srikkanth), and Sify Gaming (bringing Massive Multiplayer Online Games to the Indian market back in the broadband/game cafe era).

Bringing IP to interactive life in a mobile form factor and delighting and re-engaging IP consumers with mobile games is a speciality that Karna enjoys. When he isn’t busy at play at his day-job, Karna is hard at work, honing his Gamer skills on his Xbox or re-imagining how he would bring Mahabharatha alive as an interactive digital experience to the world.

Nitin Kalra

Director, Animation International – India

Nitin Kalra is the Director for SAARC Region at Animation International – India, a company part of the Hong Kong-based Animation International Limited. Under his leadership, the company manages the licensing & merchandising business for several popular global brands such as Doraemon, Shin Chan, Garfield, Hallmark Design Collection, Charlie Chaplin and Albert Einstein besides others. The company also has a strong Exports business, experiential licensing vertical and creative services business. Under his leadership, the company has also expanded operations in the neighbouring countries of Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal& Bangladesh and even markets the United Arab Emirates, Philippines and Indonesia.

Kalra started his career in 1996 as a freelance journalist covering beats such as entertainment & education for leading newspapers including The Times of India, The Indian Express, Deccan Chronicle, The Pioneer and The Statesman. After having contributed over 3,000 articles to leading national dailies, he set up his own media consultancy business in 2001. Some of the major clients his company acted as a consultant included Sony Entertainment Television, Nimbus Communications, T-Series, Universal Music Group, Rajshri Productions, Rajshri Media & several leading celebrities from the film industry.

In 2007 he joined STAR India Pvt. Ltd (A News Corporation Company) as part of their Licensing & Merchandising business where he was instrumental in setting up STAR TV’s licensed publishing business along with developing a robust CRM system for the network. He was also responsible for the successful implementation of a CSR initiative titled “Aapki Adalat – Aapke Dwar”, an on-ground training program for social workers by the leading social activist & former IPS officer Mrs Kiran Bedi. He left STAR to join Animation International as Business Head – Licensing in January 2010. He was elevated to be the Director of the company in October 2011.

As a Licensing Professional, Kalra has been involved with several initiatives to spread awareness of the industry through Licensing International Merchandising Association (LIMA) and otherwise. He has spoken at the prestigious Asian Licensing Conference in Hong Kong and has also been invited by several platforms such as License India, Animation Society of India, Food Forum India, MET College, St. Paul’s College and more for lecturing on Licensing and Related Opportunities. He has also written several articles on the industry, a prominent one being in the “Total Licensing” magazine, which is a global magazine for the Licensing Industry.

In 2018, he was awarded as “Licensing Leader of the Year” at the India Licensing Expo organized by License India in collaboration with LIMA.

An entrepreneur and an avid gamer at heart, Ninad has over 20 years of experience in gaming and the interactive media space.

He is currently the COO of WITS Interactive, a DesignTech agency, and is also the CoFounder of GoPhygital, a VR, AR/MR focused venture.

Prior to joining WITS Interactive, Ninad held leadership roles at premium mobile apps and game development companies like Robosoft Technologies, Reliance Games, and Indiagames where he was instrumental towards their growth.

Over the past few years, Ninad has led development teams and worked closely with leading media and entertainment companies like Viacom18, Saregama, Hungama etc. to help them create some of their popular apps in the OTT space.

Ninad’s foray into gaming began when he co-founded Indiagames Ltd. [now a part of Walt Disney (India) Pvt. Ltd.] and played a key role in building the organization to become a leading global mobile game publisher in its early days.

In addition to app development, Ninad also has extensive experience in creating and publishing games across platforms and has several award-winning games to his credit.

Ninad is affiliated with associations like the NASSCOM Gaming Forum (NGF) and the FICCI Animation and Gaming Forum. He regularly speaks at conferences, both in India and internationally, on topics covering App Development, AR/MR, VR, and Gaming. At his day job, Ninad is a professional advisor to businesses in helping them formulate their Phygital strategies, and is a binge-watcher and semi-professional gamer in his spare time.

Pooja comes with over 15 years of experience as a children’s author, animation and live action screenwriter, children’s song lyricist and computer game designer. She has worked with many reputed Indian and international animation studios. She specializes in developing content for the pre-school audience, and assists studios enrich their content for the global markets and merchandise.

Anu Sikka

Content Head – Kids Cluster – Viacom18

Entertaining and engaging the most demanding audience, children is no mean feat and Anu Sikka – Head – Content, Kids Cluster, Viacom18 has perfected it. Focused at creating content that is gripping, Anu’s objective is to set new stands of scale & animation in India. As content head for the kids’ cluster at Viacom18, Anu holds the responsibility of driving the channels programming strategy through curating a great content pipeline and creating a wide array of endearing characters for children.   The characters that she has brought to life like Motu Patlu, Shiva and the recently launched Rudra have all emerged as category frontrunners.  Her ahead of the curve programming strategy has been a game changer and contributed to Nickelodeon’s journey to numerous.

Anu has over 21 years of work experience in curating content across various media sectors. Prior to Viacom18,  Anu was with Hungama where she was the Creative Director, responsible for the animation and non-fiction strategy of the channel. Preceding this, she was executive producer with Sab TV for over two years leading the Delhi bureau. At SAB TV she set up the in-house production team and was responsible for starting a daily current affairs band on the channel.

Ronojoy Chakraborty heads the programming for Sony Pictures Networks India’s Kids’ Entertainment channel – Sony YAY!

He is responsible for curating the overall content mix and programming for Sony YAY! He leads the unique in-house creative team that has conceptualized and created all programs of this 100% locally produced animation channel.

A seasoned professional in the broadcast industry, Ronojoy brings with him a diverse experience of over 19 years. Prior to joining SPN, he was the Director, Programming at Viacom18 Media Pvt Ltd (Viacom18) for almost a decade. In his role at Viacom18, Ronojoy was responsible for developing and creating content for the Viacom18 kid’s Channels-Nick and Sonic.

Having worked in various creative capacities across many networks, Ronojoy has played an integral role in some of India’s leading organizations like Eenadu network(ETV) as a producer for their regional channels and Zee Network as a promo producer since 1998.

Ronojoy is a graduate in Economics from the University of Delhi

Parth Shah

Parth Shah joined Centroid UK in 2016 as an apprentice. In January 2017, he was appointed as Technical Director for Markerless Motion Capture in Centroid India. Parth has been trained to provide services like Facial Capture, Markerless Motion Capture, Inertial Motion Capture and Optical Motion Capture. He has been participating as Speaker and panellist for various Conferences and Institutes in India, in discussions focusing on AVG(Animation, VFX and Games) industry. Parth Shah has also been interviewed by Indian Medias (Animation Xpress and YourStory) to speak about Motion Capture in India.

In May 2018, Parth Shah was promoted & appointed as Director of Centroid India. Parth had always pursued Motion Capture as his passion rather than a job. His vision is to help Centroid India become established in India and to work on exciting Indian Projects.

Mona leads Sesame Workshop India’s marketing and business development efforts. She led Sesame Workshop’s venture in India, viz., the Sesame Street Preschool and Afterschool Programs, where she grew the preschool business in 22 cities. She has been with Sesame since 2009 and has been working to develop new initiatives to reach out to young children with innovative, engaging content. With a deep understanding of the preschool space, Mona has spoken at various early childhood conferences in India like the Early Childhood Association conference and Franchise India conference.

Prior to joining Sesame, Mona worked as a Brand Manager for various channels of the STAR Network in India, specifically STAR Plus where she launched multi-media campaigns for major television properties like ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 3’ and ‘Panchvi Paas’. She has an extensive experience in large-scale project management, conceiving and implementing multi-media and pan-India media campaigns. Mona comes with over 15 years of experience of working as a marketing and communication professional.

Srinivas Chilakalapudi

Srinivas Chilakalapudi has a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Missouri at Kansas City. He was instrumental in setting up and building offshore R&D centres for companies such as Ericsson, ActivIdentity & Dell.

Srinivas’ association with Green Gold Animation has been since its inception in an advisory role and he joined the company full time in November 2011, leading the strategy as a part of the three-member management team. Srinivas is directly responsible for apps, gaming, technology, digital business and licensing verticals under the Green Gold’s umbrella. He is a part of the executive team and defines the roadmaps for each of the business verticals.

Pinakin Thakkar

Pinakin Thakkar is the Managing Director of Nirvana Digital, a digital distribution and rights management company that works with networks, broadcasters, studios, labels, and with independent creators to monetize audio and video content on the global Internet, and on Mobile and on OTT platforms. Content distributed by Nirvana Digital is available on Apple iTunes, YouTube, Amazon, Netflix, Spotify, and Times Internet, among other platforms. Pinakin has an Advertising and Technology background and started his career at companies including Percept Holdings, and at Ogilvy and Mather. Pinakin has a Bachelors in Commerce degree, with a specialization in Advertising, from the University of Mumbai.

Elbert Dsilva

Elbert Dsilva, currently Head-Partnerships at BARC India, is one of the first few to have joined the joint industry company set up to measure TV Viewership habits of the 836 million TV Owning Individuals in the country.

In his early days at BARC India, he was entrusted with the Business Development role where he was responsible for the Broadcaster vertical. In his three year stint, he has grown up the ladder and is currently leading the Broadcasters and Media Agency Business at BARC India. He was also part of the team that worked on the launch of Out of Home (OOH) TV viewership measurement, a first in the country.

Elbert moved to India after a brief stint in the IT industry in the Philippines. In India, he started his career with Madison Media where he handled Media Planning & Strategy for accounts like Cadbury (now Mondelez), Godrej, Asian Paints & Radio Mirchi, etc. After spending 3 years in Media Planning, Strategy and Buying space, Elbert moved to Viacom18 in 2008 and was part of the team that helped launch Hindi GEC – Colors. In his 7 years stint at Colors, Elbert handled Sales Strategy, Revenue Planning, Inventory Management and Sales. He was also head of the team that implemented SAP across the network for the entire Revenue function.

With experience on both the Broadcaster and Agency side, Elbert has a rich understanding of the content, revenue and planning side of the media industry

Jaheer Abbas is the Regional Director for Limelight Networks Inc.

Based in Singapore, Jaheer is responsible for overall business strategic planning and execution in the South East Asia region. Jaheer joined Limelight in 2010 and has worked with various large and small OTT, Media and Broadcast service providers in South East Asia, China and India regions. He has experienced firsthand what worked and what didn’t. In the recent years, Limelight has seen a lot of e-Commerce activities in SE Asia region and Jaheer has played an integral role in helping companies especially those from the travel and retail segments to realize business ROI in their digital transformation journey.

Before Kinsane, Pranab was Vice President – Global Marketing at Vserv, managing its brand & driving communications, research, events and digital marketing. Earlier, as Director of Digital Media at Viacom 18, he led marketing and the web business for regional language channels and brands, such as Nickelodeon, VH1, and Comedy Central. Pranab was instrumental in building the digital media business of Turner Broadcasting Systems from scratch. He also spearheaded the launch of India’s top online gaming portal and award-winning brand Zapak across platforms.

Pranab’s contribution in this area has been recognized through several awards, such as Top 100 Marketing Leaders, ‘Best Digital Marketing Professional’ at Mobbys, and ‘Digital Media Campaign of the Year’ at CMO Asia. He is the Co-Chair of Animation, VFX, Gaming and Comics Sector of FICCI. Soumini S Paul

Soumini Sridhara Paul is Vice President of the Talent and Independent content platform, Artist Aloud (Hungama Digital Media Ent. Pvt. Ltd.).Launched in January 2010, Soumini has spearheaded the set up of Artist Aloud, South Asia’s premier digital platform for established and new talent with independent audio and video content along with a dedicated team. She also recently took on the role of Head of Operations and Content Programming for YouTube for Hungama and Special Content Creation and Event IP projects for Hungama. He has taken Reliance Animation to the global arena while carving a niche as the finest Indian animation studio for original IP creation. Ashish Kulkarni embarked on his journey in the field of arts and media in 1995 and since has immersed himself in the pursuit of conceiving sustainable careers in film, animation, visual effects, gaming, visual arts, and graphic design in India.
